Welcome to the first official “Day in the life of a JCC Camper” blog posting as we chronicle this summer at JCC camps.

Did you go to camp?

Do you remember the excitement and anticipation of the first day of camp?

Do you remember thinking about …

  • Who will be in your group/bunk?
  • Will you meet lots of new friends this summer?
  • Will you be reacquainted with old friends from the summer before?
  • What are the new activities this summer?

Week 1

Waiting for the bus to take a good looking group of campers and counselors to JCC Grossman Camp…

More than 1,000 campers started at JCC camps and summer programs this week. From JCC Sports Camps to JCC Grossman Camp to JCC Kaleidoscope Creative Arts & Science Camp to JCC Early Learning Center Summer Programs to JCC Maccabi Camp Kingswood – fun and excitement was felt at all JCC summer programs located in Newton, Westwood and Bridgton, Maine.

Campers rekindled old friendships and started making new ones. They hit the ground running with fun activities such as fishing shown above in Powissett Pond at JCC Grossman Camp. This camper has a knack for fishing – he caught a bunch of fish on his first day – but don’t worry, he threw them back in the water!

Seen below are the campers from JCC Kaleidoscope Creative Arts & Science Camp getting ready for a fun day where they will spread their creative wings!

Stay tuned for more Day in the life of a JCC camper throughout the summer…
