Jeff Scheur, the son of Gann’s Professional Development Coordinator Aviva Scheur, won NBC’s $75,000 Innovation Challenge in September 2012 for his role in NoRedInk.
Scheur is the founder of NoRedInk, a web-based learning tool that helps students improve their grammar and writing skills. NoRedInk uses a search engine that generates a personalized curriculum based on students’ favorite celebrities, friends and personal interests and adjusts to their abilities with tutorials and questions. Instead of students receiving essays and assignments covered in corrections with red ink, Scheur’s site provides immediate and differentiated feedback so the same mistakes are not repeated.
