Harriett and Ralph Kaplan Estates, a traditional assisted living and memory support residence operated by Chelsea Jewish Lifecare, officially unveiled its new interior spaces after undergoing a dramatic $1.5 million renovation. A grand-reopening ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Thursday, May 4, at 240 Lynnfield St. in Peabody. On hand for the festivities will be members of the Kaplan family, Kaplan Estates and Chelsea Jewish Lifecare staff and management personnel, residents and their families, and friends and community members.
The significant transformation of Kaplan Estates encompasses both design and structural upgrades. A striking fireplace lounge in the entryway serves as the focal point of the overall design scheme. Additionally, the first floor sports a warm and welcoming coffee shop, a spacious remodeled and expanded dining room with an abundance of natural light, a private dining room, salon and spa. Renovations on the second floor include the popular TV lounge and community room.
A Brand New Assisted Living
The programming at Kaplan Estates has always been five stars. Now, with the recent renovations and new furnishings, the interior spaces are five stars to match. “We are extremely pleased with the renovations,” notes Megin Hemmerling, Executive Director. “The furnishings and décor feel intimate, yet so very welcoming. Every day we receive positive feedback from our residents and their family members.” To that end, the proof is in the numbers. Megin adds, “We are seeing more social interaction than ever before!”
Immediately upon entering the lobby, visitors will notice the impressive fireplace lounge and the “hub” of activity in the newly designed coffee shop. Residents and visitors socialize and catch up over complimentary home-made pastries, muffins, desserts and beverages.
The resident dining room has been transformed to create an intimate dining experience—space that feels home-like, but with restaurant quality service. Expanded window seating allows for an abundance of natural light, making meals a special time for residents and guests.
For family gatherings, the private dining room can easily accommodate special requests from the residents. In tribute to the organization’s Jewish roots, the Kaplan Estates is a kosher facility—the only one of its kind on the North Shore.
Also highlighted in the renovation are the new Salon and Spa, TV Lounge, Community Room, and resident-focused game and socializing spaces. These areas set the stage for residents to build lifelong friendships with one another.
