This is a seriously funny film! Making Trouble tells the story of six of the greatest female comic performers of the last century — Molly Picon, Fanny Brice, Sophie Tucker, Joan Rivers, Gilda Radner and Wendy Wasserstein. What? Not Phyllis Diller or Penny Marshall? They weren’t Jewish (but many think they are)! The movie will be shown at the Leventhal-Sidman JCC in Newton this Sunday, April 3 at 4pm. Rich in entertainment history, the film uses interviews with experts, scholars and entertainers as well as archival material and rare film and television clips to bring to life these female comedic legends. Four of today’s funniest women – Judy Gold, Jackie Hoffman, Cory Kahaney and Jessica Kirson – will host the event, gab about these comic pioneers and chronicle their careers. Making Trouble is a project of the Jewish Women’s Archive. Cost is only $8. And free popcorn, too! Go to www.jccgb.org/arts to buy tickets or contact 617-965-5226 or boxoffice@jccgb.org.
