B’nai Tikvah (Children of Hope) focuses both on the present and the future. Our hope for the present is that two distinct congregations—each with its own history and customs—will face daily challenges together and work toward the greater good with a strong sense of humor and compromise.
As for the future, the possibilities are limited only by our openness to explore and welcome new people and ideas while we safeguard the traditions that are most meaningful to our heritage. Our hope for the future is that we become an involved community that reflects respect for our differences as well as our commonalities, one where everyone pitches in to the best of their ability.
A synagogue traditionally serves three purposes: it is a house of worship, a learning center and a gathering place. As B’nai Tikvah, our hope is to energize and grow all three aspects, nourishing the South Area Jewish community, creating a diverse yet unified congregation whose members will find a special place for themselves and their families within our community.
We plan to reach out to the unaffiliated and/or underserved at the same time that we solidify our base of existing congregants. As Children of Hope, we look forward to a bright future that will look different from today but will prove to be sustainable and exciting for many years to come.
