Passover Priorities
By Ann Green
To those who focus so much meaning,
On every kind of Pesach cleaning,
And for whom the season’s wishes,
Are drowned out by the sounds of dishes,
Take some time to ask yourself,
As you inspect and dust each shelf,
What message does this concentration
Send to the younger generation?
At some point you must resist,
And forget the spots you missed,
Have you given as much thought
To the old haggadahs that you’ve got?
Are they boring? Are they outdated?
Has your children’s interest faded?
Will your seder open minds
To thoughts and questions of all kinds?
Ask a rabbi, read a book,
Give your plans a second look.
Check out all the stuff on-line,
Before you go and buy the wine.
Make it fresh, make it new,
The kids will love it when you do.
Plan it now, don’t wait till later
This is not your grandpa’s seder.
