Kindergarten students at The Rashi School have been thoughtfully learning about aspects of visible and invisible identity, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and change-makers of the civil rights movement.
This Fairness and Equality March is a cherished, all-school tradition, but due to COVID had not been held the last two years. So, it was especially meaningful for students and teachers alike to join together for this event. Rashi faculty, staff and students lined up along the hallways—cheering, clapping and singing—as the kindergartners held signs with messages such as, “Let people make their own choices,” “Let people rest when they are tired,” “Peace will come,” “Love yourself” and “Let people play with you.”
Social justice is an integral and vital part of The Rashi School’s curriculum, challenging children to develop real-world solutions to complex problems. Rashi kindergartners help us all understand the timeless values Dr. King and other leaders have taught the world.
