The Rashi School, the Boston area’s Reform Jewish Pre-K-8 independent school, recently announced two new initiatives geared specifically toward K-2 students. These creative grants, funded by philanthropists in the Greater Boston area, will help local students and families become part of the welcoming and inclusive Rashi community. The Rashi School offers one of the most generous financial aid programs in the country.

Ilyssa Greene Frey, Rashi’s director of admissions, explained the significance of these grants. “We know that for many parents, the idea of private school can be daunting,” said Frey. “Families sometimes assume they aren’t the right fit for financial aid, but in reality many families may be eligible for assistance through these new incentives or our traditional financial aid process. We’re excited to make Rashi even more accessible to a wide variety of families.”

Unique Incentives Help Area Families With Tuition for Children in Grades K-2

The Rashi School 2023-24 affordability programs showcase two reduced tuition grants designed for families with children in K-2 classes.

Experience Rashi Kindergarten! is a three-year tuition program for families with a child currently attending a Jewish preschool and applying to The Rashi School kindergarten for the 2023-24 school year. Students accepted into this program will receive guaranteed, fixed tuition for three years. The program will be offered to only 10 students whose families meet Rashi’s eligibility requirements.

Per student, Experience Rashi Kindergarten! guarantees that a new family will pay $20,000 for kindergarten in 2023-24, $22,500 for grade 1 in 2024-25, and $25,000 for grade 2 in 2025-26. The deadline to apply for Experience Rashi Kindergarten! is Nov. 21, 2022.

Realize Rashi, created specifically for new kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 2 students, is a three-year grant for new families applying a child(ren) to kindergarten, grade 1, or grade 2 for the 2022-23 school year who do not receive Traditional Financial Aid or other incentives.

Per student, this grant provides a $10,000 discount off tuition annually for three years. The Realize Rashi grant is available to 10 incoming students coming from any school, and the application deadline is Jan. 31, 2023.

An Outstanding Jewish Education Made Affordable

In addition to Experience Rashi Kindergarten! and Realize Rashi, the school offers three other tuition assistance programs:

  • Traditional Financial Aid is Rashi’s largest financial assistance program. Please contact the Admissions Office at admissions@rashi.org for more information. The Rashi School supports the distribution of more than $2 million in financial aid annually to 45% of our students. The application deadline is Jan. 31, 2023.
  • The Jewish Communal Professional Grant provides an annual tuition discount of $6,000 per student to a family where one or both parents are full-time, 12-month employee(s) of a 501(c)(3) organization that supports the Jewish community. The application deadline is Jan. 31, 2023.
  • The Clergy Grant recognizes the enormous contribution of clergy to Jewish life and provides a $6,000 annual tuition discount per student. The application deadline is Jan. 31, 2023.

Frey noted the significance of a well-rounded Jewish curriculum in this day and age. “With our integrated Jewish and secular academic program, social-emotional learning, and Jewish values-based environment, a Rashi education is the most important investment parents can make in their child’s future,” she said.

“The pre-kindergarten to grade 8 years are when children develop the foundational preparation, critical thinking skills, and relationship with Judaism that will determine their success not only in their next schools but as adults and members of society,” added Frey. “Choosing Rashi now means a lifetime of benefits.”
