Here at Maimonides School, the last day for classes was Tuesday and for a few days it was eerily quiet around here. Lockers were cleaned out and the courtyard and playground were looking pretty lonely. Thanks goodness that all changed this morning  when our summer programs started up.

Today, our popular M-Cat Sports Camp begins its 3-week run for students in Kindergarten through 7th grade. Staffed by current and former M-Cat athletes, the program runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Boys and girls will have the chance to play all their favorite sports — soccer, basketball, wiffleball, pillo polo — and even go on a few field trips.

For young scientists in grades 3-7, teacher Katie Muratore offers Ms. M’s Science Camp, also for three weeks beginning July 5. Each week features a different theme. The first week focuses on Fun with the Environment; Week 2 looks at Fun with Chemistry and Week 3 concentrates on Fun with Design. The program funs Monday through Friday (except for July 4th week) from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Young Writers can impove their skills at Ms. Maxene Lorraway’s Creative Writing Workshop: Let it Flow. Each day at “Let it Flow”, students in grades 3-8 participate in engaging experiences, both new and less familiar. Writing about these experiences is the thread that ties each day together. Session 1 is June 27 – July 1, with Session 2 running July 5-8, each day from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
