Attention students!

Mayyim Hayyim Community Mikveh and Education Center in Newton needs student volunteers during an upcoming conference on ritual immersions called Gathering the Waters. The conference will take place during Columbus Day weekend (Sunday night, October 10th through Tuesday afternoon, October 12th). Mayyim Hayyim would like student volunteers to help film the conference and its attendees. The goal is to capture participants’ reactions in real time. Mayyim Hayyim owns one Flip Video camera, so one student would be able to operate the camera at a time. If several students are interested, they can each film parts of the conference in shifts. After the conference, students will work with Mayyim Hayyim staff to select and edit clips.

The student rate for attending the conference is $50, but Mayyim Hayyim can waive the fee for volunteers. Mayyim Hayyim would like to know by the end of the month (preferably by Friday, August 26th) if any students are available to help out. This would be a great opportunity to get involved with the Jewish community and learn more about this lesser known but very spiritual/meaningful ritual.
