Like social justice, Jewish culture, and Yiddish music? Well this is the last chance to see the multi-media performance about the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire that was rated the top show of the 2011 Boston Jewish Music Festival. Created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the fire that changed America, it is the story of 146 mostly young women and girls who died in the largest industrial tragedy of its time and the history of the poverty and picket lines that defined a Jewish immigrant community struggling to build a better life.
A Besere Velt (A Better World), the community chorus of the Boston Workmen’s Circle will be performing the renowned program on Sunday October 23, 2011 at Temple Emanuel in Andover, MA. This is a benefit concert for the Bread & Roses Centennial Committee, a group of people working to plan a series of events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the groundbreaking Lawrence “Bread & Roses” Strike of 1912. This concert marks the first major event of our 2012 schedule that is already packed with exhibits, symposiums, concerts, and other events to celebrate the rich working class heritage of America. Please help us celebrate this seminal moment in American history!
