Last we left Midge Maisel, her career was in serious peril after she revealed too much about crooner Shy Baldwin’s personal life. Then, here in the modern world, a pandemic happened and production stalled. At last, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” is set to return on Feb. 18, 2022, just in time for wintertime binge-watching and new, exciting COVID variants. The trailer is even live!

I, for one, have several questions about the upcoming season. They include:

Will Midge actually start paying attention to her poor, lonely, accessory-children before they join the Manson family?

Why is part of the season set on Coney Island? Will Midge be reduced to carnival work or, worse, a job slinging hot dogs at Nathan’s Famous?

Will she ever start to appreciate poor, beleaguered, gambling-addicted Susie? (Probably not, since the trailer shows her huffing, “Make me Lenny Bruce! Make me a headliner!” and, “You’re my manager! Manage me!”)

With the 1960s teetering toward hippie-dom, will she meet the Beatles?  Go full Roger Sterling and have an unfortunate experience with LSD? Get arrested for concealing pot in one of her pillbox hats?

Will Abe make it big as a theater critic for The Village Voice?

Will Joel finally grow a spine?

A few other wishes for next season: More Rose, please. This deeply repressed soul deserves to come into her own. And more appearances by vulgar, social-climbing power duo Moishe and Shirley, who add humor (and, fine, some stereotypes) to the proceedings. They seem to be the only two characters unafraid of Midge and her strident hissing.

And, on that note, I hope there’s a scene (or 40) where Midge fails. Where she realizes that she’s not always charming, cute or funny. I want to see some humility, some regret and maybe even some rejection. The fabulous wardrobe can stay, though.

Do you plan to watch the next season, or were you done with Midge and her ego after Season 3? Tell me in the comments!
