On April 28th Hebrew College and CJP are launching a brand new series for young professionals called Wanderings and Wonderings. This six-week series of conversations with peers and leaders on real life topics will allow you to expand your mind and your community. Guaranteed fun for those of all backgrounds. Below is a sneak peek at the content of those sessions. Be sure to register by April 14th at www.hebrewcollege.edu/wanderings.
First Session – Kick off Wanderings and Wonderings with an evening of laughter. “Shrink” the distance between you and your fellow wanderers. Brian Fox, who has a 14-year background in improvisational theater in Chicago and Los Angeles, will lead us in exploring how improv mixed with Jewish wisdom can create community.
Second Session – Has someone you care about ever upset you and you didn’t know how to respond? This session explores ancient Jewish wisdom about love, hate, and revenge and how to have those difficult conversations that can make or break relationships. Learn with Rabbi David Jaffe, school chaplain at Gann Academy High School and graduate of the Columbia University School of Social Work.
Third Session – Delve into one of the greatest love poems ever written: Song of Songs – it’s sensual, it’s sexy, it’s sacred. Join Jason Slavick, Artistic Director of The Performance LAB, and the cast of their new indie-rock musical based on Song of Songs as we analyze this beautiful text, hear songs from the show, and discuss the journey from classical poem to contemporary musical.
Fourth Session – What do pickles, Judaism, and the environment have in common? Find out as you feast on rich interpretations. Together with Ronit Ziv-Kreger, a teacher at the Jewish young adult ecological fellowship, Adamah, you’ll cultivate a conscious relationship with the natural world and come away with a jar of personally prepared pickles.
Fifth Session – Explore the multitude of identities within Israel through crafts, music and readings. Sabrina Burger, who lived in Israel for 12 years, and who attended the Bezalel School of Art and Design, will lead a session that promises to deepen our relationship with Israel.
Weekend Experience – As a participant in the series, you’ll work with your leaders, Dan Brosgol and Samara Hendin, to shape the culminating weekend of Wanderings and Wonderings. The program may include meals on Friday night and Saturday, a panel discussion to answer your lingering questions, and activities to process your experience and to just have fun – but it’s all up to you!
Sessions will take place at Mobius, Club Cafe, Cambridge Center for Adult Education, The Boston Atrium and more!
