Chamber Music with the Criers series explores “degenerate” music, music that was suppressed, segregated and banned during the Third Reich. As violinist Jesse Irons puts it, “The unfamiliarity of most of this inventive, vibrant and moving music is both a stain on the Western musical canon and evidence of the enduring effectiveness of Nazi persecution.” A Far Cry is proud to explore this rich and forgotten genre through three concerts at St. John’s Church, featuring familiar and unfamiliar works by composers such as Schoenberg, Hindemith, Weil and others.
