Jewish Community Watch Party for National Rally Tuesday, May 17 at 8:45 AM Dear JALSA Community, As we mentioned in previous emails, a US Supreme Court draft opinion was leaked earlier this month that, if actually issued, would overturn Roe v. Wade. Not only would this upend 50 years worth of settled law related to reproductive rights, but it has implications for access to birth control, same-sex relationships, interracial marriages, and so much more. Our Jewish values tell us that a pregnant person has a right to the protection of their physical, mental, and emotional health, and that there is no religious obligation to continue a pregnancy if it may result in harm to themselves. By restricting access to abortion, the Supreme Court will be preventing us from living according to these values. With that in mind, we are organizing to raise our voices. Join with us and our Jewish community allies for these two upcoming events. In solidarity, Cindy Rowe Bans off our Bodies Day of Action Saturday, May 14 Boston Common - Parkman Bandstand Meet at 11:30 AM Jewish Community Meet Up Spot: Corner of Boylston and Tremont, near T stop (look for JALSA signs -- we will walk to rally spot at 11:45 AM) Rally starts at 12:00 Noon As part of the national Bans Off Our Bodies Day of Action, a coalition of Massachusetts based organizations, including JALSA, are cosponsoring a rally on May 14th at 12pm on Boston Common.
