As a college student, I find myself needing to go a little out of my way to celebrate Sukkot on my terms. But never fear—there are tons of fun and free (or ridiculously cheap) ways to celebrate Sukkot this year with the college and post-college set. So grab your lulav, your stash of favorite Jewish jokes, and your sense of enthusiasm, and go make some new friends while celebrating the holiday!

Temple Beth Shalom of Cambridge is hosting a Sukkah building extravaganza and potluck dinner in the Sukkah, both geared towards Jews in their 20s and 30s. Take part in a fun day of community-building as you try your hand with some power tools to construct the Sukkah (October 9th, 10 AM). Then, come back on October 12th for Sukkot services at 6:30 PM, followed by a potluck dinner at 7 PM. Bring something dairy to share with your new Jewish friends, and be sure to stop by the sukkah anytime during the week, as it is open to the community. Can you say,“Best lunch break ever”?

The Moishe-Kavod House in Brookline, which caters to post-college Jews and young professionals, will be hosting a Sukkah building and decorating event (October 9th, 3 PM), as well as a Sukkot party (October 16th, 5 PM), which promises to be a great social opportunity. Come experience the hub of young Jewish life in greater Boston!

Harvard Hillel will be hosting a Sukkah party on October 18th at 7:30 PM for graduate students and young adults in the community. Join a group of students and community members for pizza and beer, and be sure to stop by the sukkah throughout the week for more casual gatherings.

If you haven’t quite gotten your fill of pizza and beer, saunter over to Congregation Kehillath Israel in Brookline. KI’s Young Leadership Division (YLD) runs several events throughout the year for the 20s/30s set, and they’ll be throwing a pizza party under the stars on October 18th at 7 PM. It’s their most popular event of the year, so get there early and be prepared to mingle.

All of these events are accessible by public transportation, so load up that Charlie Card and go get your Sukkot on!
