You’ll want to join us Sunday, 8:30 a.m. on August 4 through 9:00 a.m. Monday, August 5, for our Prospective Camper Overnight: Bauercrest Training Camp. It’s a day (and night) in the life at the Crest!

On the surface, your son will have the opportunity to swim, participate in our league sports and electives, and enjoy the camaraderie and togetherness that have defined Camp Bauercrest for more than 80 years. However, this experience will set the stage for so much more.

I want to share more of what we’re about, as a decision to choose Bauercrest is an investment in your son’s growth and development.

Many  recognize Bauercrest as the “All Boys Jewish Sports Camp,” although I much prefer to describe us as a “Mensch Factory!” Athletics and sports-related programming are largely the basis for building the Jewish connection, self-esteem, and leadership skills at the Crest. Although I can tell you that we’ve got musicians, vocalists, hip-hop, inventors, artists and DJs. Our campers and staff through four generations have become leaders on a national and international scale.

Our history shows that we’ve produced at least one professional athlete and several collegiate and varsity-level athletes although I’m sure that we’re more the stomping ground for future sports commentators, writers and young men who simply will make the world a better place.

The vast majority of our counselor staff is former Bauercrest campers – most with upwards of 10 years on the hillside. Mentoring and leadership skills develop through two paths: 1.) The natural transfer of knowledge and life experience through close relationships built over many summers together; and 2.) The formal education and training provided by some of the best education, management, social science and Jewish communal leaders around. We could not be more proud of our administration and the resources that so seamlessly enrich and empower our campers and staff to take risk, challenge themselves and make a positive difference in the lives of others.

From my perspective, summer camp is a year-round and lifelong experience. We create a safe environment where boys and young men endeavor and achieve things they may not be able to the other 10 or 11 months of the year. In essence, the Bauercrest experience is an acceleration of independent living and coping skills that are put to use every day. Our hope and expectation is that Bauercrest boys carry our core values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Achievement and Responsibility to their classrooms, campuses, workplaces and homes.

I’m always glad to arrange a tour – in-season or off-season.

Call or drop me a line any time.

My thanks and best always.

Crestly,
Rob
