Three Maimonides School seniors — out of a class of only 45 — have been named semifinalists in the annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The semifinalists are Betzalel Kosowsky-Sachs, son of Seth Kosowsky and Elka Sachs of Sharon; Rivka Rumshiskaya, daughter of Boris and Katia Rumshiskiy of Brighton; and Yitzi Snow, son of Dr. Kenneth Snow and Stephanie Pollack of Newton Centre.

The seniors were recognized as a result of their scores on the 2009 Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, and will compete for some 8,400 Merit Scholarships that will be announced in spring 2011. Some 16,000 students are semifinalists, out of about 1.5 million who took the qualifying test.
