Beginning in September 2011, Ma’ase Olam will bring together young North Americans and Israelis for a 10-month service learning program in Israel’s social and geographic periphery communities. Ten North American participants will contribute 25 weekly hours to an Israeli NGO, live communally, study Hebrew, participate in professional training building their NGO skill set, engage with parallel program of Israeli Fellows, and explore the many social and cultural complexities of Israeli society.  Participants will gain valuable leadership experience, a global Jewish perspective, and effective tools to be agents of social change in their North American communities.  Hebrew is a plus but no prior knowledge of Hebrew required.  The service year runs from September 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012 and completed applications are due on February 1, 2011.
