A massive latke bar. A live concert by Josh and the Jamtones, who enjoy a cult-like following among small, dancing children. Plus games, crafts, make-your-own menorahs and a pretty swanky swag bag.

It’s all happening at Chanukah in the City, an annual celebration on Dec. 10. at 10 a.m. at the Back Bay Events Center (200 Berkeley St.). It’s run this year by the Vilna ShulJCC Greater Boston and Chabad Downtown Boston. And, this year, it’s geared toward kids up to age 12. So bring the pre-teens!

First things first: latkes. There is a massive latke bar from the kosher Catering by Andrew with potato and sweet potato latkes topped with sour cream, apple sauce, cherry compote, blueberry compote, salsa, horseradish cream, basil pesto aioli, tzatziki and other snacks, washed down with a hot chocolate bar.

Kiddie ska rockers Josh and the Jamtones will kick off the festivities with dance music, and then kids can roam free: visit a menorah-making workshop, roll your own beeswax candles, or take toddlers to a sensory area with hands-on crafts perfect for getting messy.

“It’s special that we get to convene the families of Boston for this amazing Chanukah celebration in a space that’s welcoming for young and old,” says the Vilna Shul’s Lynne Krasker Schultz. “The Vilna is thrilled to be organizing this amazing community event and working with partner organizations to create an amazing morning of fun. As Boston’s only Jewish museum and the convener of Jewish programming in downtown Boston, this event supports our core mission to bring people together to experience Jewish culture in a new, interesting and different way.”
