What Do Kids Think About Shabbat?

We wanted to know what kids have to say about Shabbat, so we asked a handful of preschool students from Temple Beth Shalom of Needham what they think about this weekly holiday. It turns out they think it’s so awesome they are flipping upside-down for it (possibly literally). Read on to hear about Shabbat—in their words.

“Shabbat has challah, and it is good. Mmmmmm!”

Kiddush is to drink, and we bake challah, and we do kiddush, and light candles—all the things are Shabbat.”

“I like Shabbat because I like going to the sanctuary. I like singing.”

“I like challah, juice, lunch bunch…and that’s all I like.”

“I like Shabbat because I like challah, and it’s so yummy and it makes me want to be upside down.”

“Torah! I just like it.”
