Just a little over 10 months ago I came to you all with a a dream I had: to create a community service based rugby team focused around the timeless jewish values of giving back and helping those in need. At the time of that first post, the Boston Maccabi Rugby Club existed as an idea only, and a humorous one at that. To some the idea was patently absurd – to others an odd curiosity. But you believed in us enough to get us off the ground, and you helped us recruit, you came to our events, and you showed up on the field.

Today, we are over 45 athletes strong and growing – but that’s not all.

created at: 2012-07-25In the past 10 months, the Boston Maccabis finished 2nd place at the NERFU league tournament, 1st place at the Eric White Memorial 7s Tournament in Springfield, sorted hundreds of pounds of clothing for Cradles to Crayons, raised over $1,000 for Cancer Research at Dana Farber, and $11,000 for the Red Sox Foundation. And we’re just gettin’ started!

So first and foremost, THANK YOU. For believing that we could make this real, and for standing behind us as we did.

Now we turn to our next challenge – our first official season in the New England Rugby Football Union. Fall recruiting is now fully underway, and we need you to help us spread the word. We want to continue to grow, to play, and to serve, and we need your help.

Want to play rugby? Got a friend who wants to play rugby? Love community service and being a part of a team? This might be for you. Give us a shout at BostonMaccabiRugby@gmail.com or check us out online at www.BostonMaccabiRugby.org. Help us spread the word, and we hope to see you out at a game this Fall.

Cheers,
Goldie
