Join us for A Tribute to Irving Fine, an afternoon of music honoring the life and legacy of one of Brandeis University’s most significant figures.
Sunday, March 15, 2026 | 3:00-4:30 PM | Slosberg Music Center
Each year, we celebrate the life, legacy and music of composer, educator and founder of the Brandeis School of Creative Arts Irving Fine, known for his remarkable gift for lyricism, whose masterfully crafted scores inevitably “sing.” Aaron Copland wrote that his music “wins us over through its keenly conceived sonorities and its fully realized expressive content,” praising it for “elegance, style, finish and a convincing continuity.” Virgil Thomson cited an “unusual melodic grace.”
Presented by the Brandeis Music Department as part of the Slosberg Concerts series, the concert will be presented in two parts. The first half will feature performances by Mark Berger, Sophia Szokolay, and Hyun-Min Lee, with works by Sarah Gibson and Davy Rakowski. The second half will bring together the University Chorus and Chamber Singers, performing Irving Fine’s Alice in Wonderland, Sets 1 and 2, alongside works by Aaron Copland, Leonard Bernstein, and Alice Parker.
This event is free and open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome; however, RSVPs via Eventbrite are greatly appreciated, as they help us plan accordingly. Please email slosberg@brandeis.edu with any questions.
Free parking is available in the Spingold Theater Center parking lot, located down the road behind the theater. We strongly encourage guests to park here, as the Slosberg parking lot is very small and typically fills up quickly on concert days.
