“Arabeska: Where Food and Love Meet”(Promotional still)

For Akram Abed and his life partner Idan Madev, food is giving, and food is love. The couple realizes their dream by transforming the Talpiot section of Haifa with their popular restaurants, Arabeska and Cascade. Akram and his mother, Amal, cook Arabic dishes. Idan does the design and social media. The restaurants offer reasonably priced gourmet food and hire people who have overcome some of the hardships Akram and Idan faced, making the neighborhood more welcoming for LGBTQ and all communities.

Hosted by chef Barak Yehezkeli, this popular Israeli TV episode features sumptuous food and showcases the astonishing transformation of a neighborhood.

This U.S. premiere is followed by a conversation moderated by Amir Tadmor, head of Cultural Affairs, Consulate General of Israel to New England, and Nir Caspi, co-founder and CEO of Cafe Landwer.

Light refreshments will be served. $5 validated parking.
