Everyone is welcome to join us at Temple Emunah in Lexington on Friday, April 8 for our next Mahaneh (Camp) Emunah and community Shabbat dinner, with special guest Yizhar Hess, Executive Director of the Masorti Movement in Israel! We will enjoy a spirited Shabbat experience with a delicious dinner in an inclusive, fun and family-friendly way, starting with snacks and schmoozing at 5:15. Kabbalat Shabbat, with joyous singing and dancing will begin at 5:30, and during Ma’ariv, our youngsters will have special story time. We will all gather together for dinner at 6:30 PM, where games will be available for kids.
After dessert, our special guest, Yizhar Hess, will talk about the Masorti Inclusion Programming, Adrabah, in Israel. A 10th generation Jerusalemite, Yizhar holds a B.A. in Political Science and Hebrew Literature from the Hebrew University, a law degree from the Interdisciplinary Center in Herzliya, and an M.A. in Jewish Studies from the Schechter Institute. He is known as one of the leading voices in Israel promoting Jewish Pluralism representing the Masorti-Conservative movement in the negotiations with the Israeli government regarding religious choice in Israel and egalitarian prayer at the Kotel. In addition to overseeing the expansion of the Masorti services to the disabilities community, Yizhar meets with Israel’s top politicians and has become a well known face in the Knesset. It was his concept to start Jewish Pluralism Watch www.mishmar.org.il.
