Eshel is the senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD), a former Israeli general who served as commander of the Israeli Air Force and director general of Israel’s Ministry of Defense until 2022. He is recognized as a leading military authority on Iran’s strategic threats and air defense capabilities. At FDD, he focuses on the Iranian-led threat network, the Iran-Russian axis, and the shifting security dynamics of the Middle East.
