Labor Day Shabbat

September 3, 2016 West Newton Free

Please join us for musical, participatory, weekly Shabbat Morning Services, beginning at 9:45am. For people of all backgrounds and levels of Jewish experience. Services will be followed by a kiddush lunch. Free childcare is available. All are welcome.

In honor of Labor Day, this Shabbat, we will be hosting Bob Ross, Professor of Sociology at Clark University, and the author of Slaves to Fashion: Poverty and Abuse in the New Sweatshops (and husband of CDT member Marion Ross!). The son of a teacher and a garment worker, and the grandson of garment workers, Bob has written extensively on the global apparel industry and labor conditions and workers’ rights in it. During the Torah service, he will share some of his family’s story, and the challenges (and opportunities) of labor and labor organizing today.
