Join Agudas Achim for Yom Kippur services. Rabbi Leora Abelson will be leading services for the congregation. She will be joined by congregation member Dr. Janet Encarnacion of Mansfield, who will serve as the congregation’s cantor (song leader) and members of the congregation’s choir.
According to Rabbi Abelson, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are all about reflection, and one of the powerful things is that we each engage in our own personal reflection, but we do it all together in community. We reflect on the past year in order to step into the new one with renewed focus and commitment to become our most powerful, connected, loving and purposeful selves. That reflection looks different for each of us every year. This year, some of us will be reflecting on new illnesses and the ways they are changing what choices we make, and some of us will be reflecting on shifting relationships. Others will be thinking about how far we are from a just, free and peaceful world, and what we can do in the coming year to get a little closer. As we each do our own inner work, we get to inspire and support one another. We lift our voices together in song and prayer, and our collective voice becomes even more powerful than the sum of its parts.
