Shabbat Morning Service; Learn to Wrap & Lift the Torah!

March 5, 2016 West Newton 0

Please join us for musical, participatory, weekly Shabbat Morning Services, beginning at 9:45am. For people of all backgrounds and levels of Jewish experience. Services are followed by a kiddush lunch. Free childcare is available. All are welcome.

Today at 12 pm (after Shabbat morning services), learn how to wrap & lift the Torah! Have you ever marveled at the graceful lifting of the Torah at the end of the Torah reading? Or wondered how to properly roll and “dress” the Torah scroll before it’s put back in the ark? Here’s your chance to find out! The Ritual Committee will be showing all who are interested the ins and outs of the mitzvah of hagbah and gelilah – lifting and wrapping the Torah scroll at the conclusion of the Torah reading.
