The Biblical Foundations of Contemporary Jewish Issues: Who Wrote the Hebrew Bible?

Next Event: November 1, 2016 Boston $120.00

Why are the origins of the Jewish people so closely connected to the land of Israel? What is the political history of the first Jewish commonwealth and what caused the first civil war among the Jewish people? Where are the biblical borders of the Land of Israel and what is the Bible’s view on territorial compromise? What does the Bible say about the ideal form of government? What happened to the ten lost tribes of Israel? In this course, we will look at each of these questions by studying selections from the Hebrew Bible in English translation and their implications for contemporary Jewish political issues such as religious versus secular outlooks and the future of Israel’s borders.

Although the course is meant to be a unified experience, each session is “free standing” so missing one or two is OK.
