Rabbi Beryl Cohon Memorial Lecture: Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker – “Reflections on the Colleyville, Texas, Hostage Crisis” and screening of the documentary film “Colleyville”
Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker will share his experiences and reflections from the 2022 hostage crisis at his synagogue in Colleyville, Texas.
His remarkable calm, presence of mind, and resilience helped him and the other hostages survive an 11-hour ordeal. His reflections on holding the competing values of both maintaining security and being welcoming in the aftermath have inspired Jewish communities across the country.
Rabbi Charlie Cytron-Walker is now the rabbi of Temple Emanuel in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, after serving for 16 years at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville.
Sponsored by the Adult Jewish Learning Committee, the Cohon Lecture Fund, and Temple Sinai’s Antisemitism Education Fund.
