Join Congregation Or Atid’s Yom Kippur service options for children, teens and adults.
Young family programs for ages 7+ and younger:
These activities are geared toward ages 4-7, though younger children can certainly attend and participate. All art materials will be provided in advance in the kids’ bags regardless of age. Please contact Jillian to receive a bag if you did not already pick one up. (Seconds graders are welcome to join these as well as the “older” children’s services.)
- 9-9:30 a.m. Virtual Yom Kippur story time and conversation, led by Or Atid member and art educator Jillian Gruentzig.
Children’s Yom Kippur programs for ages 8-12:
- 10-10:45 a.m. Virtual “All About Community” led by Or Atid member Rabbi Rebecca Weinstein.
Teens Yom Kippur programs for grades 8-12:
Teens are always encouraged to participate in the main services, including listening to the rabbi’s sermons. These teen programs are supplementary with the intention of building our high school connections, identity and community.
- 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Virtual “Justice in Action”: Yom Kippur is not only a day of fasting and forgiveness but also a day of recommitting to social justice. Join us for this panel of inspiring activists for a discussion on how we can combat racism and antisemitism and fight for justice on many other important pressing issues.
Additional programing for all ages:
5-5:30 p.m. Virtual Jonah and the whale: An interactive telling of the story of Jonah. Join Rabbi Polisson and friends for a family-friendly telling of Jonah, the Haftarah for Yom Kippur. Or Atid members will help read and act out this story about forgiveness and self-improvement. Email Rabbi Polisson to secure your part!
For the whole family:
- 7:20 p.m. Virtual Tekiyah Gedolah: Grab your shofar and join fellow Or Atid members as we give one final blast of the horn together!
- 7:25 p.m. Virtual family Havdalah: Candle provided in gift bag.
