ShalomLearning combines a multimedia, value-based curriculum scaffolded by grade level for grades two through eight. The curriculum is marketed to two audiences: brick-and-mortar supplementary schools and directly to families, such as those in the military, who live far from available congregations; families who have children with special learning needs; and families who prefer Jewish homeschooling for their children. Schools and families have access to curriculum lesson plans, PowerPoints and educational resources (texts, home activities and videos).
The second part of the ShalomLearning is “blended learning,” a system that enables students to participate in virtual classrooms guided by the teachers from their schools or, in the case of the family partners, with ShalomLearning teachers. Family partners use the system exclusively on-line. Schools can use the system exclusively in their classroom, exclusively on-line or in combination. Some schools may choose to use the on-line system only to make up for missed classes; others may use it one day a week and focus on Hebrew, synagogue skills, or Jewish history on a second day of their program.
