If you need something to celebrate—anything, really, at this point—how about National Pastrami Day? Michael’s Deli in Brookline commemorates the meaty milestone each year by donating 10% of sales to The Greg Hill Foundation, founded by radio personality Greg Hill. The foundation responds to families touched by tragedy with immediate help, including victims of COVID-19 and restaurant workers impacted by the pandemic, as well as people suffering from disasters like house fires.
Michael’s Deli is one of Boston’s last remaining authentic Jewish delis, and owner Steven Peljovich has a soft spot for the gelatinous sandwich staple.

This year, he says, it means even more.
“From the standpoint of COVID, I’m thrilled that I’m going to be able to have the fundraiser this year and that I’m operating,” he said. “I also think it’s more important than ever to help local charities, restaurants and businesses.”
This year, due to COVID-19, a portion of take-home sales will also go toward Greg Hill.
