HaGal Sheli has been using surfing as an educational and therapeutic tool for over 11 years. Initially focused on helping at-risk youth, the organization has expanded its reach to support trauma survivors, individuals with disabilities, and those in special education.

Thanks to the generosity of CJP’s Israel Emergency Fund, HaGal Sheli has received two critical grants—an initial $300,000 followed by an additional $1.5 million—allowing the organization to rapidly scale its services and extend much-needed mental health support to thousands of Israelis still struggling in the aftermath of recent events.

With CJP’s support, HaGal Sheli has grown from serving 70 participants to 1,800 weekly, providing a safe space for individuals to heal through the power of the ocean. Founder and CEO Yaron Waksman expressed deep gratitude for CJP’s partnership, emphasizing how it has enabled the organization to be there for those in need at the most critical times. With an additional 2,250 participants on the waiting list, HaGal Sheli remains committed to its mission, knowing that the journey of healing is one that must be shared.

“At the end of the day, we have no other place. This is our home, and we’ve got to do it together,” Waksman said, highlighting the unbreakable bond between the organization and its supporters.
