Big questions don’t have easy answers…especially when it comes to Israel. Explore the complexities of Israel with HMI.

HMI is now accepting applications for its January 2026 cohort out of Boston. Join couples from Boston from Jan. 8-18, 2026. Applications close Sep. 30, 2025.

It’s a complicated time to consider traveling to Israel. That’s why HMI has designed a meaningful itinerary that helps couples explore and understand Israel beyond the headlines, hear from diverse voices, and wrestle with hard questions in real conversations.

The itinerary helps participants better understand the complexities of Israel’s history and current culture through discussions with Arab-Israeli and Palestinian speakers, geopolitical guides, and Nova Music Festival survivors from October 7, as well as meaningful volunteer opportunities. Groups will hear personal testimonies and historical accounts highlighting the diverse cultures of Israel all while connecting with each other and other couples from your city. Explore the January itinerary here.

For Jewish and interfaith couples, LGBTQIA+, interracial or multi heritage couples, Jews by choice, and anyone exploring their connection to Jewish identity and Israel, HMI offers the opportunity to engage thoughtfully, ask hard questions, and connect with others who are navigating similar conversations.

HMI is a nonprofit organization that helps couples with at least one Jewish partner bring Jewish life and understanding into their homes in a personal, meaningful way. HMI is here to help couples navigate life, love, Israel, and Judaism and welcome them into a unique, diverse, Jewish community of local couples.

To be eligible:

  • HMI strives to build cohorts of couples early in their committed partnership and in similar life stages. Generally couples should be between the ages of 25-45 at the time of their HMI trip. While age may be a factor in eligibility, the life stage of you and your partner as it relates to the other couples on the cohort is more important.
  • At least one partner must be Jewish. HMI defines that broadly—if you have at least one Jewish parent or grandparent, that counts.
  • At least one partner must have no prior organized Israel trip experience as an adult (i.e. if both partners have been on Birthright, you are ineligible, but if one of you went on a middle or high school trip, you’re good).
  • Couples must live in the Greater Boston area.
