Please join the New Israel Fund in Israel, March 16-24, and consider our first-time-ever optional pre-trip add-on to Ireland and Northern Ireland, March 11-16.

The New Israel Fund has built a well-recognized and much admired study tour program in Israel over the past 20 years.  In response to requests from past participants, this year we are trying something new: offering a significant add-on (5 days) to Ireland and Northern Ireland,  currently much in the news. While Ireland is facing dramatic challenging economic realities throughout society, in Israel the economic challenges focus on a growing gap between rich and poor (the largest in the industrialized world). Northern Ireland has long faced inter-group tensions, that have some distinct similarities to the situation in Israel. In fact, SHATIL (NIF’s action arm) has worked with Irish NGOs (non-governmental organizations) in the past to teach and learn from Ireland’s experiences.

Coming with us to both Israel and Ireland provides an opportunity to go behind the newspaper headlines and television sound bites to examine the realities of contemporary Israeli and Irish life. Of course, the Irish portion of the trip is an optional add-on to the main trip to Israel.

On our trips, you have an opportunity to meet the activists of the dynamic social change movements in both countries. Through personal encounters you will learn about the key challenges facing these two countries as democratic states (and in Israel the challenge of building a Jewish and democratic state) and the steps being taken to meet these challenges.

We are currently actively recruiting for these two trips and hope that you will consider joining us.  A $500 deposit per person per trip is due by January 15th.
