That’s what Teresa Kempner from Easton, MA rated her experience in Parenting Through a Jewish Lens (Ikkarim) held in Sharon this year.

This class surpassed all my expectations.  The readings helped me understand core Jewish values and the home activities suggested at the end of each session were a great take-away.  Most importantly, having a great teacher – Rabbi Benjamin Samuels – who led wonderful discussions about Jewish family concepts made me excited to return for the next class.

I’m from an interfaith family – I’m not Jewish but am trying to learn as much as I can about Jewish ways.  Much of my learning has been from celebrating holidays with friends and family or attending a temple service – I‘ve mostly played the role of an interested observer.  Parenting Through a Jewish Lens allowed me to immerse myself in exploring Jewish core-values and important family related issues.

My classmates and teacher encouraged me to share my ideas and experiences. Time for discussion helped to build a community of learners because hearing other moms’ ideas and feelings made us want to continue conversations out of the classroom.
