JFS of Metrowest is proud to announce our new Healthy Aging Program Specialist, Susan Kasle. As Programs Specialist, Kasle will be working on a two year pilot project with Malka Young, Director of Community Impacts. This project is designed to empower older adults with coaching skills that will guide them to make healthy choices and bring those skills to other seniors in a one-to-one setting.  We will be partnering with Temple Israel of Natick and Temple Beth Am in Framingham to connect to seniors aged 65 and older.  We hope to pilot a prototype for our faith congregations to become centers for Healthy Aging. The Metrowest Jewish Community Fund is funding this initiative.

Kasle earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from Boston University, a Masters Degree in Public Health from Columbia University and a Gerontology Graduate Certificate from University of Massachusetts- Boston. She previously volunteered for JFS in the Healthy Partners program, a program which provides a primary prevention approach to overall health and well-being for seniors who live at three different sites in Framingham in partnership with the Framingham Housing Authority and the Framingham Council on Aging.

“As a volunteer I saw how JFS brings programs to the community that makes significant and positive impacts on individuals’ lives. I am pleased to join the organization as we embark on this new healthy aging initiative for seniors.”

Kasle brings with her experience as a Program Coordinator for the Arthritis Foundation Massachusetts Chapter. During her time as program coordinator, she achieved success in bringing the program to Metrowest, working to integrate its’ evidence based prevention strategies into the elder care programs at JFS and other organizations in the region. She is also a trained facilitator for both the Healthy Eating for Successful Living in Older Adults TM  and My Life, My Health. She credits JFS as being an early adoptee of evidence-based programs.

She continues in her work as the Consulting Director for Aging and Mental Health Programs for the Massachusetts Association of Older Adults, Inc., and as a board member of the Council on Aging in the Town of Sudbury.  She is a member of Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland. We welcome her to the JFS family and look forward to all the great work she will do.
