“Between Two Worlds: Hebrew Poets in Muslim Spain” with Dr. Jacqueline Vayntrub

Due to snow on February 5, the Carl Steinbaum Lecture featuring Dr. Jacqueline Vayntrub has been postponed to next Friday, February 12.


Dr. Jacqueline Vayntrub will present “Between Two Worlds: Hebrew Poets in Muslim Spain” during Qabbalat Shabbat on Friday, February 12, at 6:00 p.m.

Dr. Jacqueline Vayntrub, a scholar of ancient Hebrew and Semitic literature, brings a fresh perspective of the literary achievements of Jews in Muslim Spain, exploring how these philosopher-poets recovered and reshaped the poetic traditions of the Hebrew Bible. Dr. Vayntrub received her PhD from the University of Chicago and is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University. Dr. Vayntrub lectures nationally and internationally, most recently at the University of Naples, Federico II and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
