Join us for our June 1 Tzedek Salon with one of the key leaders in the campaign to pass the transgender public accommodations bill, Carly Burton, who serves as the Campaign Manager of Freedom Massachusetts.
Carly will be discussing the status of the transgender public accommodations bill and the larger picture of working for transgender justice in Massachusetts. On May 12, the Massachusetts Senate voted 33-4 to pass the transgender public accommodations bill. This bill would allow people to use public bathrooms and locker rooms that correspond to their gender identity and is an important piece of legislation towards full non-discrimination protection for transgender people in Massachusetts. A large amount of community and organizational work went into keeping the momentum of this bill alive and there is still more to be done as it moves to the House!We are excited to have Keshet join us at this Salon as a co-sponsor! They have been working very hard on this campaign and we welcome their insight and experiences. The space, Lir on Boylston, is wheelchair accessible and light refreshments will be served.
