Friday, November 21:
- 6 p.m. Scholars-in-residence Rabbis Mike Moskowitz and Rabbi Sharon Kleinbuam speak during Shabbat services. Topic: “What Does a Lesbian Reconstructionist Rabbi Have in Common with an Ultra-Orthodox Rabbi? Freedom, Identity and the Future of Jewish Democracy.”
- 7:30 p.m.: Community Shabbat Dinner (please register by Nov. 14)
Saturday, November 22:
- 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Shabbat morning Torah study and discussion led by Rabbi Mike Moskowitz and Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum. Topic: “We Don’t Stand Idly By: A Study Session on LGBTQ+ Justice, Democracy, and the Jewish Duty of Presence.” Includes Shabbat brunch.
- 4 p.m. Study, discussion and Havdalah, with two simultaneous sessions: “A Conversation for LGBTQ People and their Family & Friends” led by Rabbi Mike Moskowitz, and “In Every Generation: Fighting the Authoritarian Impulse to Silence Queer Voices” with Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum. These two groups join together for Havdalah around 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, November 23:
- 9:45 a.m. For parents in our religious school community and all adults. Topic: “What Jewish Tradition Teaches about Homophobia” study led by Rabbi Mike Moskowitz. Our Java Nagila café will be open for coffee and refreshments.
- 11:30 a.m. For teenagers (grades 6-10) and their parents. Topic: “The Fight for Diversity and Inclusion, and How Teens can Claim Their Power” discussion with Rabbi Mike Moskowitz.
All are welcome to take part in this engaging and inspiring weekend of learning and connection.
