Rebecca Abravanel (Moran Rosenblatt) is not interested in the life prescribed to her in her strict ultra-Orthodox home. When her parents learn she has been exploring the outside world, her father insists she marry a much-older Orthodox widower and Rebecca runs away to a kibbutz. In her secular life with an attractive kibbutznik (musician Elisha Banai), Rebecca finds herself estranged from her religious family and must grapple with the effects of cutting herself off. Based on the acclaimed short story by Savyon Leibrecht and nominated for three Ophir (Israeli Oscar) awards. In Hebrew with subtitles.
Please join us after the screening for a dessert reception, sponsored by a CJP South Area Jewish Community Grant.
