We invite you to a HBI virtual art opening and live show featuring an artist talk with Marisa J. Futernick. The topic will be Dirty Dancing: Revisiting the Catskills.
Marisa J. Futernick’s lush, poster-size prints combine old family photographs with invented text to look at the Jewish Catskill resorts of the 1960s. Drawing from personal history while recalling a broader Jewish experience, the works evoke the atmosphere of the now-defunct “Borscht Belt,” famously mythologized in mainstream culture as the setting for the film Dirty Dancing.
After the talk, visit the live show. This live show runs from March 6 to April 14 at the Kniznick Gallery.+ More... - Less...
