Ballot question No. 3, dealing with transgender rights, will be discussed by Rachel Silverman of Keshet during Saturday morning services. A question-and-answer period will be held during the kiddush following services.

Silverman is an advocacy associate at Keshet, a national organization that promotes full LGBTQ equality and inclusion in Jewish life. A senior religion and sociology major at Bryn Mawr College, she is president of her local Hillel chapter and active in Jewish organizing on campus. Passionate about Jewish social justice, she writes for the Jewish Women’s Archive and plans on attending rabbinical school.

In 2016, Massachusetts passed non-discrimination protections for transgender people in public spaces. A “yes” vote on ballot question No. 3 will uphold those protections and ensure that everyone is treated fairly.

Temple Emeth is committed to celebrating diversity: interfaith families, all ages, races and abilities, those who are single, partnered, straight, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender—each has a place at the Temple Emeth table.
