The Jewish Climate Action Network recently turned 7, and Rabbi Katy is about to be 70. Seven, as we know, is an auspicious number in Jewish tradition. The world was created in seven days, the shmita, or sabbatical cycle, lasts for seven years and after every seven-times-seven years Jews celebrate the jubilee year. We count seven weeks of seven from Passover, redemption, to Shavuot, revelation. Seven has meaning beyond its numerical significance.
In recognition of these two auspicious birthdays, JCAN-MA is celebrating by hosting a film discussion of “The Condor and the Eagle.” It powerfully presents the inspiring work of land defenders and activists—it asks how social change happens and explores best practices on how to build effective social movements. “The Condor and the Eagle” reminds us of our deep interconnectedness with the Earth and one another.
Join us for conversation, celebration and connection to discuss the film and how we at JCAN might respond.+ More... - Less...
