Blind Michigan Supreme Court Justice Richard Bernstein to Speak at Temple Emunah

Justice Richard Bernstein, who has been blind since birth, is a recently elected member of Michigan’s Supreme Court. Justice Bernstein will speak at Lexington’s Temple Emunah Inclusion Sabbath, Saturday, February 21st. As an attorney, Justice Bernstein has handled cases protecting the rights of people experiencing disability, and related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). He is a marathoner, IRONMAN® finisher.

February is Jewish Disability Awareness Month, a time devoted to raising awareness and fostering inclusiveness for people with disabilities. Our religion emphasizes that we must neither separate ourselves from our community nor force others to do so. While inclusion should be a constant and consistent goal, this month highlights its importance.

Saturday’s service will begin at 9:30 AM at Temple Emunah, 9 Piper Rd., Lexington.

Justice Bernstein is in town for the ReelAbilities Boston Film Festival (www.reelboston.org) and he will be speaking at their opening night on February 23 at Emerson College at 6:30 PM.
