Next Event: November 1, 2014 West Newton

Shabbat afternoons, November 1 & 15

With facilitation by participants in Rabbi Toba Spitzer’s “Israel and Us” class, CDT members and friends are invited to discuss Israeli author Ari Shavit’s My Promised Land: The Triumph and Tragedy of Israel. Named one of the best books of the year by the New York Times and The Economist, it is a deeply personal narrative history of the State of Israel by one of the most influential journalists writing about the Middle East today. Shavit offers a unique and personal history of Israel, which articulates an unusual honesty about both its foundation and its accomplishments. Please be sure to have read Chapters 1 through 8 by the November 1st meeting!
