Boston Premiere – Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezin

January 27, 2015 Boston $25.00 - $80.00

Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín is a powerful, dramatic and inspirational concert/drama that tells the story of courageous Jewish prisoners in the Theresienstadt Concentration Camp during World War II who formed a chorus under the leadership of fellow prisoner Rafael Schächter, and performed Verdi’s Requiem 16 times, as an act of defiance and resistance to their Nazi captors.

This performance, on the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, features Verdi’s Requiem, conducted by Murry Sidlin and performed by the Tanglewood Festival Chorus, woven together with video testimony from surviving members of the original prisoner choir and narration from actors Jeremiah Kissel and Will LeBow.
