Please join this JALSA gathering to honor the life and legacy of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, symbolically marking the end of her shiva period. After we conclude, we urge you to take a walk around the block, as is traditional to conclude this period of mourning.

This event, in partnership with the National Council of Jewish Women, is in coordination with similar events being held simultaneously around the country.

We will be joined by elected officials and members of the clergy who will reflect on Justice Ginsburg’s accomplishments and her lasting impact on social justice and equity.

Remarks from:

Sen. Elizabeth Warren
Sen. Ed Markey
State Treasurer Deborah Goldberg
Sen. Majority Leader Cynthia Creem
Rabbi Barbara Penzner
Rabbi Mike Rothbaum
Cantor Vera Broekhuysen
Jennifer Childs-Roshak, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood League MA
Amy Rosenthal, executive director of Health Care for All

At the conclusion of our event, we will be joining the National Council of Jewish Women’s event in Washington, D.C., at noon.

The walk around the block symbolically marks the end of an intensely inward time and a return to the world. As we mourn, we will take up Justice Ginsburg’s charge and urge our country’s elected officials to respect her dying wish—that her seat on the Supreme Court should not be filled until after Inauguration Day.

National Council of Jewish Women requests that you send in photos from your walk around the block as part of the national event. Please send your photos to david@jalsa.org so we can post them. You can also post photos to social media using the hashtags #RuthsRevolution and #CourtsMatter. We will be posting photos from this event.
